3 Dubai Salons to check out this Month
Where: Blo Out Beauty, Jumeirah Beach Road branch
The Salon: The salon have their original and first location in Tecom, and I’m pretty excited about the fact that they have a new (and LARGE) salon on Beach Road, just over Lebaneesh and opposite the Starbucks Drive through.
The service: The salon is incredibly impressive and they have a wide range of treatments. I came in for a blow dry with their senior stylist, Samantha. As soon as I arrived, Samantha asked what I wanted to leave with before washing my hair (the shower chairs are half reclined, but as comfortable as a flat bed). I loved the fact that they now also use Kevin Murphy and Nashi (my two favorite brands) before she rough dried and then curled it. Samantha is one of those stylists that will just be plain honest – she isn’t into the little fads and really does recommend what you should be doing and what not to bother with. As I told her I struggle with my curls lasting, she thinned out the hair once dry before using a heat protector and curling.
Stylist: Samantha, their head stylist – she is straight up honest and educates you about anything you’d like to know!
Cost: AED120-160
Overall experience: I left with gorgeous waves, and they were still wavy day two – that’s when I know she’s a highly recommended stylist!
Where: Zuri Salon, The Mall Jumeirah
The Salon: A super cute new salon in the newly opened, The Mall right opposite Burj al Arab and Jumeirah beach hotel
The service: They have a ton of different services – but I visited for a mani, pedi and blow dry. For the nails, they use Essie and I got some natural soft waves by Suad. For hair, they use Alterna, L’Oreal, and Redken.
Stylist: Suad for hair and Felcila for nails
Cost: Hair starts at AED120 and nails start at AED65 for manis and AED80 for pedicures.
Overall experience: The salon was very cute, the staff were super sweet and it was very clean so I do recommend the salon. I was happy with both my mani/pedi and my hair – even though my hair didn’t last me all day (they did drop), but I liked the fact that they had a natural haircare option (Alterna)
Where: Hair Works, Al Barsha
The Salon: The salon has existed in Dubai for a while now. If you live close to Spinneys, you would have seen it quite a bit. It was my first time at their Barsha space – which was clean and spacious. It is also conveniently placed next to a Starbucks and Baskin Robbins.
The service: I booked in for a Kerastase treatment and blow-dry. As soon as I arrived (even though I was slightly late), I was taken right in. As I wanted my hairstyle to last, Uzee (who also happens to be Hair Works’ Artistic Director) suggested I go for the Instant shot treatments by Kerastase, which are very light and is customized for my hair. She ended up mixing a concoction of nourishing, color and protein. Once it was put on my hair, I had a lovely massage done by Aissa before my hair being curled by Uzee. My waves didn’t last for the second day, but still had some body on day two.
Stylist: Uzee
Cost: AED170 for the treatment and AED180 for the blow-dry
Overall experience: I highly recommend trying to book in for Uzee, she’s super sweet and knows her stuff. Even though I haven’t tried her for colors or cuts, I would definitely suggest you see her for your next treatment and blow out.
